Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Flan!
Karen Castrischer Stegall & Michael Shinafelt

While we were not celebrating Cinco de Mayo, we were celebrating nonetheless. Here is a blast from the margarita bandit past of my friend Karen Castrischer Stegall and yours truly, imbibing at the famous Mexican Restaurant El Coyote.

El Coyote is most known for being the place that Sharon Tate last dined before her untimely passing.

I can't recall what year this was but it was Karen was merely a Castricsher, sans the Stegall.

So bend it like us and whoop it up, it's not only Cinco de Mayo, it's also Friday...

TGIF!!!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Birthday Boy
Michael Shinafelt
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.” ― Bill Keane

"Yes" indeed today is the present, another day to be alive and experience the world around you. Make choices that are bold and could potentially open the door to new and greater opportunities and experiences. In short today is my Birthday! Join me while I celebrate 53 years of living.

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned in that time is to always look for ways to ground myself, because I am nothing without me.

Wonder what's going through my brain right now while I am writing this on the day of my birth December 18th? I've got this!

I am thankful for my health and being in the best shape I have ever been in. I'm even starting to get ab definition for the first time in my entire life.

El Coyote bound tonight, kick ass margaritas & greasy tacos here I come!

I'm in my Birthday Suit doing this right now

Wonder if the washer is fixed or if I'm going to have to go to the laundry mat this afternoon???

Lemon Water is delicious & delightful

Hole is one of the best bands ever!

Looking forward to the Christmas Party on the rooftop of The Montalban in Hollywood tomorrow night

Perhaps I will go see Mary Poppins Returns at some point

Can't wait to see my BFF Brittney tonight

Getting it with abs & spin class this morning. I may throw in a little boxing for good measure

Happy Birthday To Me is one of my favorite horror movies

OK, focus and carry on, it's your Birthday but you still gotta adult

Michael's Musings

Lord Won't You Buy Me A Mercedes Benz?
Michael Shinafelt
"It's obvious you hate me though I've done nothing wrong..." - People Are People, Depeche Mode

This lyric sums up the week and the world at present perfectly right now. I don' feel the need to extrapolate on that. If you think I should, please remove yourself from this column and go do something productive, preferably without a white hood over your head.

Movin' on up...way up!

"In the more relaxed circles of Hell, you spend eternity opening and re-opening the fridge to see if something delicious has magically appeared" - Krista Allen

Congratulations to my friend Mike Clifford his cover of "What A Wonderful World" has been #14 on the Los Angeles Jazz Chart 3 weeks in a row!!! Mike at: https://www.facebook.com/MikeCliffordsWonderfulWorld/

I like tacos and having my butt smacked

Had dinner with my BFF Brittney last Thursday @ El Coyote. Was then informed we missed the anniversary of Sharon Tate's last meal there by a day. The more you know.

Farrah says: No drinks outside

Walk like an Egyptian, and F#ck like a drifter

I had 2 items in the 10 items or fewer line. Got behind a guy who had considerably more than 10. I cut in front of him and said "Have anything to say about that?"

Apparently my bitchy level is comparable to a panther. I resemble that assessment.

It's Christmas Eve, What Are You Doing?

Be Very, Very Quiet. I'm Hunting Toons!
Photo: Rhonda Bernstein
For those of you not in the loop, my Birthday is exactly one week before Christmas, "Yes" it is December 18th, "Hi" I'm Michael Shinafelt and I'm a Sagittarius.

I turned 50 this year. Yeah, I am a half a century old and still kicking ass! So how I am celebrating this evening?

Continuing my well earned status as a survivor of Generation X by celebrating my Birthday even more. It started last week with an awesome excursion to Disneyland courtesy of Rhonda Bernstein. With co-stars Eric Bernstein & Angela Simone.

Seguing into the actual date with my BFF Brittney Alexander at the legendary El Coyote. The place where famed Hollywood starlet Sharon Tate had her last meal.

And so it continues into Christmas Eve with Scott Jacobs. Featuring Wine & Cheese and Frivolous Fuckery!

Shout out to Erik Rimmer!

Simply having a wonderful Holiday Season!
