Pride/BLM

Dwayne Wade, Zaya Wade & Gabrielle Union
As everyone knows by now Pride Festivals & Festivities are cancelled this year, this being stated with all of the necessary Black Lives Matter protests going on around the world today in Los Angeles the two will join forces.

In lieu of Pride there is a BLM march scheduled to take place at 11 am starting at Hollywood and Highland (the location of the first Gay Pride in Los Angeles) and ending in West Hollywood, the current home to Pride in LA.

While I am not planning on marching because of the current pandemic, I would if there wasn't one. I am wishing all of those who are well and please be safe.

Also Happy 13th Birthday to Zaya Wade, daughter of NBA Superstar Dwayne Wade and Actress Gabrielle Union. Her actual DOB is May 29th whose parents threw her a party this past Friday that combined the themes of medieval and pride.

In case you didn't know Zaya is transgender and proud stepmom Gabrielle had this to say to her on her special day:

"You are such an inspiration and motivation to get my butt up everyday and fight," she wrote. "When I'm weary, frustrated, full of rage, I see your face and your joy and you living your best life and I want that for all of us. I love you sooooo much kid!! Enjoy this day and everyday knowing you are loved, protected, respected, admired and celebrated."

Whatever you choose to do today, make it a celebration

I Love A Parade!

Today's Your Birthday?
Bella Thorne & Ruby Rose
Even though there will be no Gay Pride Parades come June there will be plenty of  other parades in the form of drive by Birthday Celebrations

"Yes" It's the pandemic thing to do, keep your Social Distance and such. Check out Bella Thorne and Ruby Rose partaking in a drive by celebration.

For who I do not know, they are keeping it on the DL, down low in the age of Covid 19. Someone needs to write a novel with that title and subject matter, Hmmmmmm...

Anyway if you happen to have a Birthday today, be like Bella and Ruby keep it real, and DL.

It's Monday, correct???

World Pride

She's Got Spirit!
Lady Gaga
Today is the official last day of World Pride, and while the party may be over, the celebration should continue. "Yes" life should be a celebration every damn MotherF#cking day!

Bear witness to Lady Gaga sauntering her way in rainbow regalia to The Stonewall Inn, the place where the first Gay Pride was literally a riot. Hence on the 50th Anniversary of the historic event which transpired on June 28th in NYC - the Pride Party this weekend in the city of origin is an extravaganza!

So of course Gay ally our Lady of Gaga is out in full force and rocking it like a unicorn! Hey, she was Born This Way...

Thus on the last day of the party I leave you with this delightful image to remind you to keep on keepin' 365 days all the time. You and your life are a reason to celebrate!

Happy Pride!

Proud
Jonathan Bennett
For those of you living over the rainbow, instead of under it, the month of June is official Pride Month. Today is the Los Angeles Pride Parade held in the city of West Hollywood. Thus I thought I would take today and do a special Pride shout out. Oh, and I will be attending the parade as well, because I love a parade...! 😄

So here is a Proud image that caught my attention in a fun way. Well I am sure most of you have seen the movie Mean Girls. They wore pink on Wednesdays for those of you out of the loop. Here we have out Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett wearing a T-Shirt with a Pride take on the wearing pink thing.

"Yes" Wednesdays are now for wearing rainbows, you know how that connection goes.

Anyway, Happy Pride minions, keep on keeping!

Happy Gay Pride Los Angeles!

Closets Are For Clothes
Michael Shinafelt
June is officially Pride Month & today is Pride Day in Los Angeles, CA. I remember I came out officially at the age of 25. It was the best thing I ever did for myself.

Since then life has had it's ups and downs just like anyone else's, but the one thing being true to yourself does is it alleviates you of the burden of living an life that is not authentic.

If you can't love yourself, how can you love anyone else?

Today is a day for celebration of our true selves, be who you are and be proud of it.

For those of you out there who might be struggling remember it's OK to seek and ask for help. That is something to be proud of as well.

On that note, it's time to get the party started, Michael has left the closet...

Michael's Musings

Proud!
Michael Shinafelt
Happy Pride Month Minions! This weeks column will consist of the gay agenda - you know what we are after, living our lives like everyone else, with equal rights. What a lot we are how dare we as tax paying citizens think that we are entitled to such things.

For the record I am proud to be a part of the tribe. I also know I am not alone in that. Honestly I find other things way more offensive than loving someone of the same sex. Let's try making lecherous comments about your daughter on for size.

So this week we are going to celebrate - with images, quotes and good old fashioned love. Let all those feckless c#unts "Eat Cake."

Celebrate!
Michael Shinafelt

Happy Gay Pride Month! You heard me. June is the month of PRIDE - and this weekend is the Gay Pride celebration in Los Angeles, CA

Since I am proud of who I am, here it is on the table. All bets are off, because a "wonder"ful film I saw this week preaches the truth, and then some.

Extra! Extra! read all about it, now!

I have never seen a comic book film quite like Wonder Woman. Hell I haven't seen many. But this one is film making at it's finest. Oh, and it also subscribes to love being the answer.

While I won't be attending the Pride Parade this year, I will be having brunch with good friends.

This week on Pretty Little Liars. Aria is still being a twat, Hanna & Caleb got engaged...swoon!

Show Your Pride #Party2Life

It's Party Time!
Jade Starling
Jade Starling, a songbird by any other name is not the same.

Continuing to enjoy a career resurgence highlighted by last fall’s celebrated return to the Billboard Dance charts with her highest rankings since her iconic classic hit “Catch Me I’m Falling,” JADE STARLING of Pretty Poison today takes tremendous “pride’ in releasing the “feel good” anthem of the summer, #PARTY2LIFE.

#PARTY2LIFE is a “Celebration of Life” anthem promoting “Solidarity, Unity and Love,” inspired in part by her passionate bond with the LGBT community, for which she has been a career-long advocate. The song arrives at a time when, she says, “we really need to focus on bringing a Positive light into our lives.”

“We can heal through music,” says Jade, “and together we can make a difference.”

#PARTY2LIFE is yet another irresistibly catchy collaboration with Jade’s inseparable writing partner, Whey Cooler, with music by DJ Mike Ferullo of Tazmania Records. The new track is already a Buzz Record and getting adds at Dance Radio.

The #PARTY2LIFE party kicks into high gear this weekend, when the song debuts on the hugely popular Hollywood Hamilton’ National ReMix Top 30 countdown in over 80 radio markets nationwide, New York’s WKTU, a leading IHeart Media affiliate. This Sunday (June 26), Jade will be the Featured Artist on the WKTU Float in the NYC Gay Pride March, performing to a massive live crowd. She will be shooting more footage for her upcoming #PARTY2LIFE music video at the New York Pride March, as well.

Jade also has been busy shooting the #PARTY2LIFE video during performances in both the Washington DC and Philadelphia Pride events. She will be touring extensively in support of this record while working on her next solo album, the follow-up to her critically acclaimed CAPTIVE, which spawned three Billboard club hits, including the #3 smash “Better and Better.”

#PARTY2LIFE includes outstanding remixes by Scene Kings, Luca Debonaire, Pink Panda UK, JJ Muller, and B & B Elektromind. It’s a summer dance package that’s sure to “Bring this #Party2Life!”

Celebrate Gay Pride!

Michael Shinafelt
Prop 8 Overturned!
Photo: Bob Drapeau
As many people know, and for those who don't, June is officially Gay Pride month.

There are a lot of people that feel it has lost it's meaning. I am not one of them. No matter how "commercial" or "mainstream" it becomes it is always a special celebration. Imagine being a young boy in a small town and never feeling like you fit in. "Yes" I am talking about myself. Only to grow older, more worldly and to find individuals like yourself, who made you feel accepted and loved.

I will always attend the Gay Pride Parade for me it gives me a sense of community & friendship. It reminds me of my struggles and how I overcame them and that I am not the only one. Mostly it is a chance to be free and enjoy my hard earned identity as a Gay Male who deserves to be happy, healthy and content with who he is.

Above is a photo taken of me celebrating the overturning of Prop 8 - the anti gay marriage law in the state of CA. When it happened I dashed immediately to the rally in West Hollywood, CA for the historic moment on June 26, 2013.

Today I will be attending the parade in Los Angeles, with my many friends and acquaintances  I have made through the years I have lived here to celebrate...Happy Pride all. Have a Super Sunday

Aiden Leslie Just Goes

Billboard charting Singer/Songwriter Aiden Leslie took some time to slow down recently and chat with Entertain Me about his latest single I Just Go.

As you can well imagine other things came up during the conversation as well, but you are going to have to keep calm and read on to find out what those might be...so let's do it Aiden!

AL: When was the last time we spoke? We have done an interview before.

MS: Yes, it was for "Worlds Away" (laughs) that's why I thought it would be fun to do it again!

AL: That is so crazy! That was like, five years ago! It feels like it was just yesterday, but it's been five years, that's crazy!

MS: It's longer than I thought it was.

AL: It's half a decade! (both laugh)

MS: Pride season just passed, did you perform a lot during it?
Photo: Rick Day

AL: Yeah, I got to get around (laughs) Getting out there is always good. I just put "I Just Go" out. I feel really proud of the whole release of that single. Everyone on my team did a really good job of getting it out there. Artistically I am very proud of the work we did. That's always an important thing to do and to feel, especially in today's music climate. If you are proud of it and happy with it that's what really matters.

MS: That's how I feel about it too.

AL: We live in this fifteen second world. Where you have to get your message out in a very quick time frame, via Instagram or anything like that. People don't have the attention spans that they once had, because of the world we live in everything is so quick. So you see people putting out an album and not everybody really catches it because it is too much for people to take in, you know what I mean?

MS: Yes, when I was a kid I was an avid reader, now it's a lot for me to read a book. My attention span has diminished with the times.

AL: Right. There are pluses and minuses to the world we live in. There are so many benefits to technology, but on the flip side, do we really stop and savor much anymore? Like Madonna she puts out twenty-five tracks on an album because she has to get so much material out there in a short amount of time. Normally people would only do, like, twelve to thirteen tracks.

MS: My favorite track off of "Rebel Heart" is "Ghosttown."

AL: Oh My God! This is the funny thing. Reports on the tour which just kicked off is that she's not even performing it right now. It's pretty insane it got the most attention and it's the best song on the album! It's so well written, it's more like her old stuff. It's something Miley or Beyonce' would sing. It's really contemporary, I love that song!

MS: Speaking of contemporary, "I Just Go" really is. The video has gotten some great comments on YouTube.

AL: Yes, yeah...when we really sat down to think about how we were going to do it, there were a lot of different concepts. I really wanted to do something very cinematic and emotional with the video. The waves and running through the waves was this whole thing for me.  It was like fighting both worlds trying to break out of one and go to the other. "I Just Go" is such a personal song. It's about doing the one thing over and over again and expecting a different result. That is the definition of insanity! (laughs) It's a universal theme of repeating and repeating something that is going to change, but it does not often change. It was written at a really dark time in my life when I was really hanging out with the wrong crowd and doing a lot of not good things, very unhealthy things. It caught up to me and I couldn't get out of it, it was like a hamster wheel. I was always trying to find my way in circumstances that weren't going to happen for me. It was about picking the wrong guys and picking the wrong situation. I think that is something we can all identify with.

MS: Definitely.

AL: We all go through that. The goal is to try and make the right choices. One of the lyrics in the song is "running down this path searching with my eyes closed searching for the truth." Running down a path, but you've got your eyes closed and refuse to see what is in front of you. You don't want to see it, it's always the struggle of trying to do the right thing. Like the the lyric says "I could care, but I just go." You keep doing the same thing over and over again until you finally learn, like Maya Angelou said: "Lessons are repeated, until they are learned." - when you know better you'll do better.

MS: By the way, I meant to say this earlier, I think the reason it doesn't seem like five years since we have spoke is because we have communicated through Facebook and Twitter.

AL: Yes! That's why! (both laugh) You see each other on Facebook and say "Hi" you don't even realize it. That's what I was talking about earlier it's a crazy world we live in. We're all connected, but then again we're not connected.

MS: It can be a little odd.

AL: Let's not make it so long since we actually speak next time!

No Brainer: Magic Mike XXL

Time For Some "Magic" at Los Angeles Pride

It's the marketing no brainer of the year. Yes, there was a Magic Mike XXL float in the Los Angeles Pride Parade.

Stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer & Adam Rodriguez were on it accompanied by some shirtless ripped guys shaking their money makers.

Oh, and I was there and I saw it all with my own two eyes.

Brilliant idea not to mention fun!

Pride! "You Are My Family"

Tis the season for Pride, and with that Joe Gauthreaux releases his latest production, “You Are My Family”, a song that celebrates the tightest of friendships and features vocals by the diva of dance, Inaya Day.  Of course it's a dance record, but it also has elements of pop, EDM, and gospel house. “It's a song I'm extremely proud of because it keeps changing as you go along and it has a really good payoff in the end with the gospel breakdown,” Mr. Gauthreaux says.  He cops to throwing out all of his conventional ways of producing dance music on “You Are My Family”. “I wanted this song to make a difference in people's lives beyond the nightclub. I didn’t want to sacrifice the emotional element for the sake of making it a dance record. I can always make a club mix later.”

So I asked Joe to sock it to me, and tell me what his top five songs are for Gay Pride!

5.  Madonna - Living For Love - Her best single in a long time and the message is timely. Love is what it is all about!

4.  Taylor Swift - Welcome to New York - I just did a mash up to this and I featured the part where she says "... and you can want who you want, boys & boys, and girls & girls..."

3.  Fleetwood Mac - Dreams (Joe Gauthreaux & David Marc 2014 Club Mix) - I love the line "thunder only happens when it's raining" - it's a metaphor for the gay community making things happen when we protest, and have our voices be heard as one.

2.  Aretha Franklin - Pride (A Deeper Love) - This one speaks for itself! A classic that never gets old.

1.  Joe Gauthreaux featuring Inaya Day - You Are My Family - Because without the ones we love surrounding us, being there for us through thick & thin, pride has no meaning.

Ponyboy, "Hookups," September 17th, Need I Say More???

Happy Friday the 13th!  I can't think of a better way to commemorate Friday the 13th 2013 than to let you all know my two favorite raconteurs are back - Ponyboy, consisting of Charles McVey and David Zey...McVey, Zey...Zey, McVey...My Sister, My Daughter!

With an EP titled "Hookups" which consists of three covers that as Charles told me: "Is purposefully short and unfulfilling - like a hookup".

Tell us more about it, Charles...

"As with previous Ponyboy. releases, Hookups is a record with a conceptual twist. A seedy undercurrent of sexual desire and frustration flows through the EP with every song connected by a theme of inappropriate love and desire. The record opens with Peaches’ anthem of sexual nihilism Fuck the Pain Away, only to be followed by a brooding rendition of The Cure’s 1980 song Secrets, a lament of a secret affair. In an attempt to maintain the theme of hookup brevity, the EP is intentionally short and closes in under ten minutes with an abrasive rendition of I Love Rock N’ Roll.

The concept is carried through with the adjoining album art, a satire of the gay hookup phone application, Grindr. The cover features a silhouetted pony-head profile stylized to mimic the Grinder logo and maintains continuity in the credits with phony profiles and chat text. Unlike most out-musicians, Ponyboy. explores a reality beyond Pride flags and dance clubs; often the review is unflattering. Hookups is the closing chapter of the “Dick Trilogy” which started in 2011 with the release Little Dick Demo, which was followed by Dick Dick Dick earlier this spring."

David Zey

I need a good stiff...drink after that, phew! In honor of the EP I asked each of the Ponyboys to give me a story about one of their worst "Hookups" let's start with my "Boy" David:

A few years ago, I took my first ever trip to Las Vegas. One day while I was there, I decided it might be fun to find someone to hookup with for a night. So, after I woke up that morning and got ready for my day, I signed on to Manhunt (this was just before smart phones and apps such as Grindr existed). I sent a few messages to a few different guys that looked like my type and headed out. I had a few things I wanted to do that day, but I made a point to check in a couple times to see if anyone had responded to my messages. Just before dinner time, I was back at the hotel with my laptop checking message on Manhunt when I got a message from a guy who seemed interested. I let him know that I had dinner plans, but after dinner I was free. He seemed to be okay with that so we exchanged numbers and I headed out for dinner. Now, my dinner plans that night were at the Stratosphere. This guy was staying at the Luxor. If you're familiar with Vegas at all, then you know that these two hotels are about as far away from one another as they can be on the strip. And if you are familiar with Vegas, then you know that getting from one end of the strip to the other can take quite a while, depending on how you choose to travel (I had purchased a 24 hour bus pass that day so that was how I was traveling - which I learned is probably the slowest way you can possibly travel and that you can almost walk faster than the buses move on the strip). Anyhow, about halfway through dinner, the guy texts me to see if I'm done eating yet. I reply and let him know that it'll be just a little while longer. So, dinner is finally over, I text the guy and let him know that I'm headed up the strip to the Luxor on the bus. The guy is noticeably very excited and tells me he can't wait. Because the bus ride is taking much longer than anticipated, I started getting more and more texts from the guy as I went. His tone started to change from excited to slightly impatient. But finally, I get to the Luxor, I send him a text, and make my way to the elevator where I realize that I need a key card to get to certain levels.

Fuck The Pain Away: Check Out The Video Here:

So, I text the guy and let him know the situation (which, honestly he should have realized this), and he comes down and gets me. The whole time he is very awkward and seems impatient. When we finally get to his room he offers me a drink. Noticing the bottle of Grey Goose, of course I said yes. This almost seemed to annoy him because he had to make the drink for me instead of getting right down to business. So, I try to make conversation as I work on my drink. When I notice that he is too impatient to chat, I down the drink. As soon as I do, he jumps out of his clothes and starts jerking his already hard cock in the middle of the room. I'm still dressed, but I figure it's a hookup so maybe I should help the guy out... So, I go to go down on him and he pushes me away... not forcefully, but enough so that I understand he doesn't want me sucking his cock. So I go to try and touch his cock and he moves my hand away. Not knowing exactly what to do next, I suggest we move to the bed. He lays down and I lay next to him and I start to unzip my pants, but before I could even pull out my dick, he blows his load. I say something to effect of "Wow, that was quick" and he apologizes with a look of shame in his eyes. At first I thought, well maybe we can have a drink while he recovers and try again... but instead he gets up, wipes off with a towel, and asks me to leave. I say "really?" And he gets a stern look and says "Yeah, I think you should go now" and points to the door. Doesn't even walk me out and instead heads for the bathroom. I was confused and completely unsatisfied with what just happened as I felt like I invested quite a bit of time just getting to his damn hotel room... but it wasn't a total loss... because that bitch didn't even walk me to the door and wasn't looking, I stole his god damned Grey Goose and went and made my own cocktails. He may have gotten off, but I got a free bottle of top shelf liquor - so trust me when I say my night only got better from there...And there ya have it! My worst hookup! Vegas style!

Charles McVey

OK Charles McVey you Wild Man...hit it!

The worst hookup I ever had was two years ago on Gay Pride Day. I was on the train going home from the festivities and I saw this guy sitting across from me, sleeping, but he wasn't really sleeping. He looked like an angel. Even though I could tell he was faking, I went along with it. We started talking and he gave me a line about some old lady he was living with and asks if he can go back to my place. I told him that I don't invite strangers up to my apartment, but then he looks down at his crotch and then back up at me, and he says, "It's big, it's beautiful and you're going to love it." And I said, "Oh, alright."
As he walked me back to my apartment on that gay night of nights he took my hand gently into his and for a moment I felt like the luckiest guy in the world. I fantasized, “This is it! This is the man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.” When we got back to my apartment he threw me on the bed and tore off all my clothes. So, I'm licking his balls, and the next thing I know he cums in my eye, and he's out the door. Gone! If you've never had cum in your eye, let me tell you - it burns! So, there I was lying in the middle of my bed completely naked with an eye full of cum thinking to myself, “I've been duped.” Then, the next day when I called the number he'd given me and it was the Pizza Shuttle and they had never even heard of a Mark Miranda. Worst hookup ever.

Comic Book: The Stonewall Riots

Have you ever heard of The Stonewall Riots? Well if you haven't heard of them you should and the talented team at Bluewater Productions wants to help make sure that you do. They are currently funding a Comic Book Project based on the historic incident that kicked off the gay rights movement. Rather than listen to me about why you should be a part of this I have, the writer of the comic, Michael Troy here to give you ten good reasons why, there should be a comic book about The Stonewall Riots, go for it Michael!

Michael Troy:

Michael Troy
10. Comics are cool.

9. There isn't one.

8. It keeps the history alive in a fresh new format.

7. Marriage equality is a hot button issue and this is where most believe Gay Rights started.

6. It's a good way to appeal to gay youth for an important history lesson.

5. It's a way to pay tribute and honor the memories of our forefathers (and foresisters, um.)

4. It has drag queens in it.

3. it has gay men from the late 60's in it.

2. It's never been done before.

1. Best reason? I wrote it : )

Well those are ten very persuasive reasons, and here is another, check out some of the promotional artwork for the project below:

Check out Bluewater Productions full funding campaign for The Stonewall Riots and give a little or a lot at:
