Monday Motivation

With merely three days to Halloween today's Monday Motivation is the adage "Follow Your Heart."

In keeping with the Season of the Witch I have provided a macabre to some, delightful to others illustration of this.

"Follow Your Heart" is a personal thing that I can not, therefore will not define for you. Let's just say it is for certain not the "Tell-Tale Heart" now that's something really scary! The other can be too just not in a supernatural sort of way.

Thus today I am going to go where my heart leads me. Except I will not have mine outside my body on a leash.

Yeah, if I did that I would be dead, and unable to get my bliss on. Only if I was a Zombie that could work, and then I'd most likely gnaw on it or something to that grotesque effect.

It's time, you have your Monday Motivation mission, get to it minions!

Hump Day & Halloween

He'll Put A Spell On You
Holden
"The rabbits running in the ditch, Beatniks are out to make it rich,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch, Must be the season of the witch..." - Season of the Witch, Donovan

Happy Halloween Creatures of the Night! The high holy day has finally arrived! I will be celebrating by attending the Halloween Carnival in West Hollywood this evening with my friend Scott, it's tradition.

But today I am celebrating with a hunky witch named Holden, photographed by Studio 1x. That's correct goblins, before I celebrate this evening with the dark masses I am going to have myself a Halloween Hump Day & Chill by worshiping this master of the dark arts in all his naked glory.

What's that you say? Holden is not naked, he is teasing you? Well abracadabra click on the link below to Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things and Holden's clothes will magically disappear in a very NSFW way. "Yes" this delicious witch has a very magic wand that will cast a Hump Day & Chill spell on you...

Time to celebrate Halloween monsters of mayhem!

Hump Day & Chill

By The Light Of The Silvery Moon
Wolfie
"Clap for the Wolfman, You gonna dig him 'til the day you die" - Guess Who

Horror archetypes are visceral & sexy creatures that tap into our basic instincts. When I caught a glimpse of Richard Rothstein's Wolfman series on Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things I felt the urge to get animal.

"Yes" Werewolves can be, and are sexy. David Naughton in An American Werewolf in London provided me with shower nozzle _____ material for years and decades. (If you've seen Heathers you know what adjective to insert in the blank.)

I had two choices of photo sets to post, thanks Tye! The Wolfman prepping for the kill or basking in the afterglow of it. Hmmmmmmm.... which did I choose being it's the Season of the Witch and such.

Afterglow all the way ghosts & ghouls

These images are very NSFW as Wolfie is, shall we say, quite excited by his bloody accomplishment.

What are you waiting for?! Go in for the kill and Hump Day & Chill with the Wolfman at the link below. Tear it apart creatures of the night!

OZG: Rihanna

Bad Ass To The Bone
Rihanna
With the countdown to Halloween in full force I'd like to show my support for one Rihanna. Who Turned down performing at the upcoming Superbowl in support of Colin Kaepernick

(Yeah, we now get Maroon 5 instead (meh) - bur considering why that happened I'm down with it.)

This is  a balls to the wall decision that I respect and admire her for. Thus it seems fitting to back her today all dressed up for Halloween as, what else? A Zombie Gangster, naturally.

"Yes" Rhi, Rhi is the OZG (original zombie gangster) and the grooviest of all the ghouls in this truly appropriate for the season and her current political stand get up.

Bend it like Rihanna this Season of the Witch and let loose your OZG, OWG or OG with a rebel yell!

Tis' a mere 11 more days until Halloween - you go ghouls!

The Witch Is Back!

Spellbound
Sandy Zacky
There are a few traditions every Season of the Witch here at Entertain Me and one of them is to acknowledge The Supreme. "Yes" that's correct fiends, we give tribute to EM's resident vocalist supreme Sandy with a "Y" not "E" Zacky.

Every Halloween her stirring rendition of "Witchcraft" appears to put a spell on you and this year is no exception.

What's that you say? Nothing magical is going to take you over? Ha! I've heard that one before and trust, you will not be able to resist the magic of The Supreme. That's why she has the title, duh.

It's time to hitch a ride Sandy with a "Y" not "E" and take a journey of the musical kind - is she a good witch or a bad witch? Does it matter? Not really as long as she has "Witchcraft" to guide you.

Surrender creatures of the night and feel the magic below...

Saturday Sinema: Between Night and Dawn

Remembering George A. Romero...

There's Always VanillaSeason of the Witch, and The Crazies, made between
Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, showcase the extraordinary versatility
and dynamism of this irreplaceable American auteur... Three films from the late,
legendary horror director, George A. Romero, showing that although he might
have defined zombie cinema, it didn't define him.

Synopsis:

THERE'S ALWAYS VANILLA (1971)
Young drifter Chris and beautiful model Lynn embark upon a tumultuous relationship which seems doomed from the outset.
SEASON OF THE WITCH (1972)
Joan Mitchell is a bored housewife whose dissatisfaction with her humdrum life leads to an unhealthy interest in the occult.

THE CRAZIES (1973)
A small rural town finds itself in the grip of an infection which sends its hosts into a violent, homicidal frenzy.

We like it because:

When George A. Romero passed away in July, the film world didn't just lose its beloved 'King of Zombies', but also a groundbreaking and fearless innovator who inspired not only generations of genre directors, but also experimental and guerilla filmmakers for whom he laid down the template.

The three films collected in this box set - two early Seventies 'lost films' and a classic plague panic thriller - show there's more to the legendary director than simply gut-munching ghouls. The comedy romance There's Always Vanilla, psychological thriller Season of the Witch, and infection horror The Crazies - all filmed in and around Pittsburgh - serve to display the broader thematic concerns and auteurist leanings of a skilled craftsman too often pigeonholed within the genre; that said, The Crazies is one of his strongest horror offerings, with memorable performances from Lynn Lowry and Richard Liberty.
Romero managed to inject his films with subtle social allegories, nuanced examinations of the human condition, and just the right amount of black humor, so that they were immediately recognized as his and his alone. The box set showcases the director feeling his way towards the mainstream and showing a formidable assurance in three very distinct genres.

This fantastic box set includes brand new restorations of the three films, a lavish 60-page booklet featuring new writing on this fascinating chapter of Romero's career, a wealth of extras including interviews, featurettes and behind the scenes documentaries, reversible sleeves for all three films featuring original and newly-commissioned artwork, and a beautifully designed and striking slipcase featuring an iconic image of the man himself.

Saturday Sinema: The Initiation

Since it's the season of the witch, shall we continue our horror countdown until Halloween? I thought you would concur, here we go with gore, gore, gore!

THE INITIATION [Blu-ray(11/8)
HERE'S TO BEING YOUNG... STAYING YOUNG... AND DYING YOUNG.

Marking TV star Daphne Zuniga's debut in a leading role, The Initiation ranks amongst the finest of the college-based stalk-and-slash flicks - now finally restored in glorious High-Definition!

Kelly's new sorority has a special initiation ritual in store for her - an after-hours break-in of her father's department store. But what begins as a night of harmless college fun turns sour when, once inside the enormous mall, Kelly and her fellow pledges find themselves locked in for the night... with a deadly intruder stalking the corridors.

Arriving in 1984, The Initiation might have been late to the slasher party, but, alongside the likes of The House on Sorority Row and The Mutilator, it remains one of the stronger entries to emerge in the latter days of the slice-and-dice boom.

  • Uncompressed PCM Mono Audio
