NBD aka National Backwards Day

Who's That Girl?
Taylor Swift

Today is National Backwards Day and it's amazing the stuff you find when you Google things that make you go reverse. I found out that Taylor Swift sometimes hikes backwards. She's been spotted in Los Angeles doing this many a time.

Her explanation? Here it is: “I saw the guy with the camera and wasn’t in the mood so I hiked the whole trail backwards and my security told me when to make turns."

Sounds reasonable enough to moi, hey if you aren't in the mood...

Thus let's celebrate the day and bend it like Taylor, you know you wanna try walking backwards bad!!!

Hump Day & Chill

Shaken, Not Stirred
Meryl Streep
During this downtime I've been thinking a lot about one of my favorite old Hollywood haunts Musso & Frank. I miss it, with it's great atmosphere, delicious food and amazing martini's

Thus today's Hump Day & Chill is brought to you by the martini, to be precise the Meryl Martini as concocted by one Meryl Streep during a performance of The Ladies Who Lunch in celebration of Stephen Sondheim's 90th Birthday.

Honestly I do think Streep is missing a branding opportunity here, she really should explore the Meryl Martini concept, I'd bet she'd make a killing doing it.

In the meantime, break out your own martini magic and Hump Day & Chill to one of these absolutely fabulous concoctions.

Make mine gin straight up, two olives please.

Thank You!!!

Getting To Know: Shannon Hemmings

Shannon Hemmings
In case you missed episode one, when yours truly chatted Actor Jeremiah Hahn up from filmmaker Robert Hensley's current project Family Affair, well we are now on to episode two.

"Yes" another cast member from the film was also in attendance at the grand opening of Silverback Coffee of Rwanda in Echo Park, CA.

Her name is Shannon Hemmings she portrays Charlie, she has a tale to tell...

MS: So spill who do you play in Family Affair?

SH: Well, I play Charlie. I can't say too much about my character. She's there, she's a happy face, a caring character. Let's just say she was really fun to play.

MS: Nice. How do you know Robert?

SH: I moved to Los Angeles only six months ago...

Shannon
On The Set Of "Nashville"
MS: Where are you from originally?

SH: Atlanta, GA. About two weeks in I was submitting myself for things. I didn't expect anything because they say when you come out here it's hard, it's competitive. So I saw this character and I loved her and I thought "why not" I might as well audition. I was submitted and I was taped, I got the job. I got a little E-Mail, I was like "No Way!" I already booked my first job in LA!

MS: Awesome!

SH: When I went to the table read and got to know who these people were for the first time, it was like "This is really cool." I felt so welcomed in, so excited! It really is who you know and the connections you make, it's a really beautiful thing.

MS: Congratulations! Sometimes it takes forever.

SH: Yeah, thanks! I came here so grounded thinking it would take a whole year to build up my resume, get a manager, what's happened now is mind blowing!

MS: Fantastic! There are so many pitfalls and it's easy to get discouraged.

SH: There were those times where I wondered if it was time to go back home. I wasn't sure if I could do this (laughs) There were time when I felt really alone, it's hard to find community in a brand new place. I'm glad I've stayed strong because everything is really coming together now.

MS: Nice to meet you.

SH: You too! Are you on Instagram?

MS: Yes.

SH: Let's follow each other.

By The Sea

Reunited
Jon Hamm & Elisabeth Moss
The Place: Santa Monica, CA
The Time: 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards
The People in Question: Jon Hamm & Elisabeth Moss

Whilst having lunch with a friend at the LA County Museum of Art the other day, the subject of the TV show Mad Men came up. We both admitted our love of it, and lamented it's demise.

Then the WWW heavens opened wide and bestowed this photo of Don Draper & Peggy Olson - Jon Hamm & Elisabeth Moss respectively.

If you watched the show weekly like I did you know Peggy was Don's protegee at the advertising agency where they worked. "Yes" they had an unusually close bond, "No" they did not sleep together, although everyone assumes they did.

Now that the record has been set straight, I feverishly seek out Mad Men marathons on U-verse whenever possible. "Yep" I'm that guy...seize the day!

Odd Couple

Meow!
Taylor Swift & James Corden
New Couple Alert! Bare witness to Taylor Swift and James Corden out on the town. JK Last night was the premiere of the movie Cats and the two of them co-star in it. But how fun would it be if they were really dating? Yeah, I thought so too 😃

Anyway, "Yes" about last night, it was the premiere of the movie musical Cats and it was a big to do. Director Tom Hooper says he finished the final cut of the film 36 hours before the premiere. Wow! That's really "cutting" it close!

Oddly enough, or perhaps not. There is no word on how good it is or isn't really. That may be because of it getting it's final touches at the last minute, or it could be that they fear the critics will not like it.

Personally I have not interest in seeing it one way or the other. Nothing about it appeals to me which is why, never have I ever seen the Andrew Lloyd Webber show.

It's The Most "Sentimental" Time Of The Year

"Seven, That's The Time We Leave..."
Sandy Zacky & Mike Clifford
"Yes" it's the Holiday Season, thus sentiment is here, there and everywhere. So let us simply cover all the bases, right here, right now with Entertain Me's resident Diva Sandy with a "Y" not "E" Zacky and Teen Idol forever Mike Clifford.

It's been a spell since this dynamic duo joined forces, but joined them again they have. The result is pretty amazing. In a tribute to the late Doris Day, the team has tackled her signature song "Sentimental Journey."

Hey, what can one say, other than this song was destined to be sung by these two powerhouses. Oh, and it really resonates this most "Sentimental" time of the year.

Blah, blah, blah, etc...why prattle when you can listen, see and feel it. "Yes" the video for this wonderful confection is here for you to enjoy after the jump.

So, what are you waiting for?! Listen, and see it now...!

Holy Turquoise!

The X-Factor
Celine Dion

Whilst I am not really a fan of Celine Dion's I have to say while surfing the WWW this turquoise number made my jaw drop and a "Wow" fell out!

Seriously this is one stand out, super amazing, eye catching, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ensemble.

Wanna tussle about that? I dare ya, you'll lose!

Imagine catching a real time glimpse of the this as Celine strutted down the streets of NYC where she was spotted in this outfit. I said imagine it, are you? Imagine it and imagine it now! Thank You.

Thus today's secret word is: Turquoise (duh)

Freaky Friday

I Want It Now!
Dolly Parton
Counting down to Halloween I thought I would get Freaky Friday on your collective souls and give you one of the most unexpected celebrity Halloween costumes I came across while ghosting on the WWW.

Behold celebrity vampire Dolly Parton as, witch cackle please...Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory!

You know the spoiled brat who uttered this infamous line:

"All I've got at home is one pony and two dogs and four cats and six bunny rabbits and two parakeets and three canaries and a green parrot and a turtle, and a silly old hamster! I WANT a SQUIRREL!"

I'll take Dolly's version, much cuter and less toxic, to say the least. This creative and out of left field costume gets an A + from me. The only thing "Freaky" about it is who'd of thunk that Ms. Parton would ever conjure this diabolical idea up?

Got Milk?

Angelina Jolie
I have always had a fascination with the "Got Milk?" ads. As a non milk drinker (ugh!) this hard sell campaign featured celebrities at their most silly.

Can you imagine how over the moon I was that I came across this doozy with Angelina Jolie promoting Tomb Raider?! I love surfing the WWW because of the random things that I find while researching something else, it's awesome!

Thus with Maleficent: Mistress of Evil coming at ya October 18th I couldn't resist running this gem that is downright, well, goofy AF

Honestly though it does not look like Jolie posed for an actual "Got Milk?" ad. It does look like the studio took a still of her as Lara Croft and submitted it to the campaign to give the movie a PR boost.

Hmmmmmmm....I wonder if Disney will follow suit and we will see Jolie as Maleficent with a milk moustache? Now that's entertainment!

Fright Fest

Tree Hugger
Michael Shinafelt
Last night I was V.I.P. at the opening of Magic Mountain's annual Fright Fest. As you all know I love me some Halloween, it's my favorite time of the year 😈

Thus last night meant in addition to the roller coasters there were, drum roll please...Halloween Mazes! "Yes" this is one of the few of my favorite things. My personal choice for best maze? Red's Revenge a gruesome take on the Little Red Riding Hood tale. What's that? "Yes" the Evil Wolf (trust me he was more than Big & Bad in this telling of the tale) caught me off guard and made me jump, once, and only once, I can't emphasize that enough. About last night, here are some pics...Boo! 😱

Freaky Friday

Fangtastic!
Angelina Jolie
"When other little girls wanted to be ballet dancers I kind of wanted to be a vampire" - Angelina Jolie

You know those times when you are surfing the WWW and you come across something unexpected? Well today is one of those times for me, thus I hereby decree it to be a Freaky Friday state of mind.

For some reason know only to an algorithm a photo of Angelina Jolie as a Vampire came up in one of my searches. It was so striking that I saved it and foisted it upon my minions today, right here, right now.

Not to mention it fits perfectly with a quote from Ms. Jolie herself about her childhood aspiration to become a blood sucking freak. To be honest her and I had the same lofty goal as kids. "Yes" I to wanted to be a creature of the night.

Combined with the fact that the Maleficent sequel is opening soon, October 18, 2019 to be exact. It's a Freaky Friday concoction too delicious not to imbibe...!!!

Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary... say it three times and see what happens.

Hump Day & Chill

Summer Oasis
Gerard Butler
"Vacation, all I ever wanted, Vacation, had to get away, Vacation, meant to be spent alone..." The Go-Go's

With just a little over a month left of Summer (Fall begins September 23rd) my mind has turned to thoughts on the subject of Summer Vacation. Everybody does it, all the popular people do it, give in to the peer pressure.

Since I have spent my Summer having Bunion Surgery and recovering from it, I got a vacation sort of. It's one where I have been sitting around binge watching things without guilt. Oh and of course writing this blog and other such things.

It's times like this I wonder "What would Gerard Butler do?" or more to the point "What would I do to Gerard Butler" - here's Gerard in a swimsuit aboard a boat. Your Welcome.

Since I was not able to reach the beach this fine Summer, I brought some of the eye candy that it offers to me. "Yes" the WWW is a wonderful thing.

Well Gerard I wished I could have been there and done that with you but alas, here I sit elevated in front of my computer writing about the Summer I didn't have. Yet somehow the one I did was it's own gift, this vacation was meant to be spent mostly alone and that is sometimes exactly what one needs.

Check out the link below and Hump Day & Chill to the "Butler Booty" appearing in his flick Law Abiding Citizen via the OMG Blog, it's so tight you could bounce various denominations of change off of it...😈

Monday Motivation

No Drama
Big Little Lies

"Monday mornin´, it was all I hoped it would be, Oh Monday mornin´, Monday mornin´ couldn´t guarantee" Monday, Monday - The Mamas and the Papas

Ahhhhhhhhhh "Yes" it's another Manic Monday but does that mean there has to be drama? Noooooooooo! Today's Monday Motivation, or MM as as we now defer to it is, just say no to drama.

Man I really don't go from one self induced crisis to another. Not my style or jam. I prefer to stay in my lane and know my role.

No drama, or minimal drama (because let's face it, life always has some static) is the way to achieve being your own personal best.

Thus I declare this Monday, and for that matter the rest of everyone's week, and for that matter again, life - a drama free zone! Honestly the only drama I want is when I watch Big Little Lies every week, mic drop? Hell "Yes!"

Ain't nobody got time for that sh!t for reals...

Celebrating Judy Garland

Celebrate!
Mike Clifford & Judy Garland
June is Pride month, and also happens to be the month that legendary gay icon Judy Garland passed. With the 50th Anniversary of her death arriving on June the 22nd former Teen Idol Mike Clifford decided to cover her signature song "Over The Rainbow" in celebration of her life.

Oh and what a cover it is. Clifford who actually knew Judy (she attended his singing gigs around the Los Angeles area) - Always found her to be kind and supportive of his music career. Of course it was a big deal for Mike that he actually was friends with his idol.

Clifford delivers one of the best vocal performances of his career with his rendition of the song classic from The Wizard of Oz

Let your troubles melt like lemon drops and celebrate Judy's life by hitting the video below...

Happy Pride Month

With This Rose...

A Rose By Any Other Name...
Marilyn Monroe
She could act, sing and dance, but did you know she could paint? One of the things I love about surfing the WWW is you start one place and inevitably end up at another. Thus you stumble upon many unexpected and interesting things along the way.

Case in point, while I can't recall what I started this journey researching, but here is a gem of a fact and piece of art I found by none other than Marilyn Monroe. How many of you knew she could paint? I for one was not aware of this talent, it does not however surprise me.

Guess who this watercolor of a rose was painted for? C'mon guess, oh OK I'll spill the tea. It was rendered for none other than President John Fitzgerald Kennedy! Woa!

So I leave you a little more enriched today, with this rose...

Fencing

Fencing
Chris Mason & Sasha Pieterse
Today is all about fencing, no not of the sword fighting variety, but of the getting impaled on one type of thing.

Here it is peeps the current image of my eye a BTS selfie of Sasha Pieterse aka Alison Dilaurentis & Chris Mason whose character Nolan Hotchkiss bites it by, you go it, getting impaled on a fence, fencing, at the end of the premiere episode of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists

Consider this definition of "fencing" my contribution to the Urban Dictionary - since I have to look up so many of today's references there I felt like adding to the already muddled waters for some more WTF? moments and collective Google searches among the masses.

Love this image and really love the show, thus my work here is done.
